Generation Atomic is launching our first ever art competition, and we want you to enter! We need you to help the world see what we see: that nuclear power is a clean technology vital in the fight against climate change, in protecting biodiversity, and making a just transition to a clean energy economy.

Why take part?

By submitting your artwork, we will be able to spread positive imagery of nuclear power, break down old stereotypes, and promote a keystone climate change solution.

Creative Resources:

If you don’t know much about nuclear power, this is a great opportunity to learn! The more you know about the subject, the more likely we will be able to choose you as a finalist! If you’re looking for inspiration, we have added a few links down below that suggest what the future of nuclear power could look like

Judging Criteria

Pieces are judged based on:

  1.  Interpretation and the clarity of the theme to the viewer.
  2.  Originality and creative representation of the theme.
  3.  Quality of artistic composition and overall design based on the theme.
  4.  Impact & relevance of artist’s statement.
  5.  Overall impression of the art. What is the effect of the artwork in general and as a whole?

Here are some reasons for NOT being selected:

  1. Irrelevance to the theme. The artwork has little to do with nuclear power and/or does not express the issue in a way that is eye-catching and meaningful.
  2. Poor color or image quality/sloppiness: A piece of artwork could be exceptionally rendered, but if the image quality is not good, the piece will not show up well on a website or in a magazine. Images that are crookedly framed, showing background, have shadowing or bad lighting, are blurry, or any other complication that comes with how the art is captured can and will affect the judging process. Poorly photographed artwork will be rejected.
  3. Incomplete or poorly written submission materials: Artwork must be submitted with signed terms & conditions as well as an artist’s statement that is less than 300 words.

We accept AI generated art, but in observance of the time human artists spend on their pieces, prizes will be structured differently. For AI generated works, we will be selecting 10 pieces to be featured as “starred” creations. Each will be awarded $50.
