Deploying Tomorrow

Advanced reactors can help solve many of our greatest challenges and usher in a new era of prosperity.

What’s within our grasp

Why aren’t we there already?

  • The ‘50s and ‘60s were marked by tremendous nuclear innovation, leading to the development of all sorts of reactors that used salt, metal, or gas as coolants, and both solid and liquid fuels alike.
  • They all had one thing in common-- they weren’t proven and built repeatedly by the United States Navy.
  • For a variety of reasons, either technical, economic, or political, none of these innovative reactors reached commercialization in the US.
  • Today, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has an inadequate framework for approving advanced reactors.
